Here's a little more insight into my unique journey!
My faith in Jesus and overall goals for this site are key factors I have shared thus far. But if you are reading this, chances are you want to know more about the man behind the digital pen.
Or you are really that curious about the dude wielding the lightsabers. (More on him soon, I promise).
Here are a few personal facts and stories about me! Hoping they give you much insight into who I am.
One side NOTE before we begin: Of course, this list will change and grow as Father Time progresses in his old age, and so do I. I am hoping that these next years (being declared in late 2024) will contribute to even more great stories to share! The beginning of 2025 already looks very promising.
A wise writer once said, “digital ink never dries.” So, here’s too much faith, love, and hard work towards the future!
The Lightsaber Guy
Throughout my childhood I taught myself how to twirl staff-like weapons.
Primarily Lightsabers!
From what started as a cool hobby that caught some “ooos” and “awes” every now and again, turned into a high school phenomenon once I joined TikTok the summer before my senior year.
Within three months of joining the site, I gained over 22,000 followers!
When I went off to college though… of course the lightsabers came with me!
I became known as the Lightsaber guy.
Since my showcase occurred primarily at night, only my close friends knew who the lightsaber guy’s identity was. I felt like some sort of superhero.
Of course, word got around, and my face ended up on that SUNY school’s most wanted. Unaware at the time, I won the end of the year tournament for most popular college trend two years in a row.
I even began receiving special titles on my coffee cups.
By the end of my time on TikTok, after only 18 months on the app, I gained almost 28,000 followers, a grand total of over 210,000 likes and with my most popular video gaining almost 800,000 views!
For personal and spiritual reasons, in late 2022 I decided to hang up the TikTok boots and reserve the spectacle for family and my humble little Instagram account until I am called upon to return to the limelight (if ever).
Such a beautiful talent the Lord wanted me to have (I have no other way of explaining it). It has contributed to so much of my creative work and thinking throughout the years.
The Work of My Hands (Part 1)
Since they have “so much in common,” I thought it natural to go from lightsaber stunts straight to my time working on a horse farm.
For five years I was a farmhand, working right down the road from my house (perfect for the fifteen-year-old who did not have a car). I learned many skills including animal care, metal roofing, window repair, lawn work and much more.
And to answer a few questions:
No, I did not do horseback riding (I had enough of that as a child).
Yes, I have been kicked by a horse (took a nice rib shot. Yeah, not fun).
Film Aspirations, Work Part 2 (And a Slight Pivot)
Little did I know that this job at a small, humble horse farm would turn into a two-year partnership with a former executive of HBO as well as an established film director/producer in Hollywood.
Let me explain a bit of backstory; while in late high school, a desire to get into the film industry was born.
Out of what though? Being on a set? Participating in fight choreography?
Nope. I simply wanted to create a Star Wars movie. Not realizing at the time though, I just masked that desire with a fake intrigue to learn the technicalities of filmmaking.
Given my lightsaber background, I fantasized over creating my own fight scenes and then creating a storyline around the question, why are these characters fighting in the first place?
Well, my boss at the horse farm turned out to be a former Director of Programming Finance then later Vice President of HBO in the 1970’s-1980’s.
One summer, after subtly bombarding him with questions, he cracked the case of my curiosity and took me under his wing.
When I graduated college, I step into the film world, interning with Robert B. Becker Inc. as a content organizer.
I would take Microsoft Spreadsheets of our film and television content, in which we had ownership of the exclusive rights, and organize them by varying categories such as genre and screen quality.
The work I performed would be given to established director/producer Douglas McHenry who spoke very graciously of my work and effort.
However (told you there was a pivot), due to personal reasons and much spiritual conviction, I decided to step away from not just the company, but the entire film industry.
For half a decade, I learned so much about this industry.
Enrolling in an online Christian Film academy in 2023.
Taking fight choreography. I got a five-hour sleep that weekend traveling to Boston twice and loved every moment!
Investing in production companies such as The Chosen and Angel Studios.
And of course, meeting such wonderful people along the way!
However, I have placed much of my film aspirations on hold. I realized that my love for film was not really targeted toward the behind-the-scenes factors, but really it was the overall storytelling (remember my Star Wars?). What I really loved was the blueprint of it all.
My number one passion.
Being a writer. The real love that drew me towards the creative world of film.
Who knows, the Lord may have something in mind within this industry to call me back to action down the road.
Church Life
I am currently a member of West Copake Reformed Church, part of the Alliance of Reformed Churches denomination.
Our mission is to know Christ and to make Christ known.
I have aided in many jobs taking care of our wonderful church, including:
- Webmaster of our official website
- Teacher in Vacation Bible School
- Cemetary care
- Landscaping/Brush work
- Holiday Float Coordinator (Update: We were awarded best float for 2024!)
I am in love with the congregation and the rich teachings from the word we receive on a weekly basis thanks to our deeply theological pastor.
Though my family has not been there long (almost 2 years as of Fall 2024), we feel we have known our church for a lifetime.
BASIC College Ministeries
Ok, I would not be anywhere near the man I ‘am today without my Brothers And Sisters In Christ from my college ministries group.
I was so blessed to play major roles in this group; being a former Treasurer, Vice President, President, and above all things, a trusted Brother in Christ.
During my last month there, we formed a college bonfire event to bring the gospel to fellow students. We prayed over one man who was giving his life to Christ then later proposed to his girlfriend (who is also a believer, praise God!).
I have met lifelong friends and have shared incredible memories.
Staying up talking Bible stuff.
Having movie nights and bonfires.
Getting kicked out of the dining hall on a weekly basis because we were staying too long (I think one time because we were too loud).
Sharing many life stories and creating even greater ones to tell.
I will be at their church events and weddings (I’ll actually be the Best Man for one in summer of 2025). I love them all to death and beyond.
Construction Management
I will sum this up with a “crafty” highlight session:
Took construction for two years in high school and college, working with wood, concrete, and metal.
My classes, in total, built 4 twenty foot plus sheds and blew up 5 bowling balls.
For my final in Law and Contracting class, I “formed a company” titled Michelin Star Construction. We will make you a fine steakhouse building! Please… do not try to contact this fake company.
In 2023 I gradated college with a construction degree that I never intend to use. At least not with a union, 9-5 formality.
I did make this awesome wall rack for my Lightsabers though!
You made it to the end! Thank you for caring as much to know some key details about yours truly! For your significant effort, I will close with two extra details that may or may never be relevant.
- From phone calls to health issues, to deep spiritual conversations, each semester of college had at least one “all nighter.” None of them were school related.
- I can name every U.S State in under a minute.
With that, have a great morning, afternoon, or night.
